Versus: Erectile Dysfunction and Levitra
ED: What is it? What causes it?
Erectile Dysfunction, also known as male impotence, is the regular inability to get or keep an erection when one normally would.
There are 4 types of ED:
- Soft Erections – the surface of the penis is not as hard as it should be
- Weak Erections – the penis is too soft to easily enter one's partner
- Total Impotence – the penis stays flaccid, completely not stiff
- Medication-induced ED – impotence as a temporary side effect of medicine
Many people experience a mix of these in turn, but knowing which type of erectile dysfunction one has most often can help to identify the cause.
The common causes of ED are:
Physical causes
The physical process of getting an erection is extremely complex, involving electrical impulses from the brain sent through nerves in the brain, spine, and all the way to the penis; then you have hundreds of muscles that are involved. Anything could go wrong here, and something with the muscles usually does.
This includes medicine with side effects of ED, as well as impotence caused by alcohol. Disease, surgery, and injury are often responsible for erectile dysfunction.
Psychological causes
Things like stress, anxiety, fear, and depression all have a heavy impact on the sex drive and the ability to get and maintain an erection.
Fatigue
Sometimes you're just too tired.
Here's a list of common conditions and diseases that cause erectile dysfunction:
- Diabetes (20-75% of men with diabetes suffer ED at some point)
- Vascular Disease (responsible for as many as 70% of ED with a physical cause)
- Clinical Depression
- Kidney Disease
- Neurological Disease (brain and nerves)
- Venous Leak
- Prostate Cancer
How Levitra Treats ED
Since most physical causes of erectile dysfunction just impair the blood flow to the penis, Levitra targets certain muscles at the base of the penis. These muscles relax, allowing blood to flow freely when you become stimulated.
Getting the Most from Your Levitra
Levitra is like a freight-train and ED is on the tracks, but you can fuel that engine fire by taking the following steps:
- Avoid alcohol within 4-hours of taking Levitra
- Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice on days when you take Levitra
- Eat a high-fiber diet. Lots of vegetables and whole grains.
- Stay well hydrated. Drink lots of water.
- Eliminate cholesterol from your diet. Basically, stay off the meat.
